Having had enough of her husband’s pranks, a woman decided not to show up at her birthday party, which he organized.
However, she felt guilty for letting her husband down so badly, so she posted on Reddit’s r/AmItheA–hole (AITA) thread and asked other people what they thought about it.
“My husband is a prankster and a prankster. He has a habit of playing pranks, especially on my birthdays!” the woman continued.
“He judges my reactions as ‘overreactions’ and tells me to relax and be extra happy because he thinks he makes my birthdays extra fun.”
It goes so far that she is embarrassed that everyone ends up laughing at her while recording her, which upsets her.
On her recent birthday, the woman had warned him that if there were any pranks, she would not go to the party because she did not want to be publicly humiliated as it was taking place in a public restaurant.
The woman’s husband has promised her that he won’t play pranks at her birthday party.
“He swore on his mother, on the Bible, promised me and brought two witnesses. He wrote an agreement that if he pulled a prank he would pay $ money,” the woman explained.
After those plays, she believed him and thought he was really honest.
She even went so far as to cancel plans with her parents who wanted to spend time with her on her birthday and decided to go to the party.
However, the woman refused to go to the party after receiving a text message from her husband’s friend’s wife that he was playing a prank.
The woman wrote: “I was stunned when she detailed what the plan would be. I felt so excited and scared. He has already gone to the restaurant to make sure everything is ready.”
She decided not to show up at the party, which led to a ton of angry messages from her husband.
After a while he explained that the party would start without her.
The woman simply turned off her cell phone and celebrated her birthday with her parents.
Later, at home, her husband was waiting for her and was ready to start a fight.
He asked her why she canceled the party at the last moment.
“I told him why and he called his friend’s wife a liar and reminded me of everything [the promise] He made me and accused me of not trusting his word,” the woman added.
“I said I couldn’t take the risk and [risk having] he’s basically ruining another birthday of mine.”
This led to an argument between the two, which ended with her husband not speaking to her.
He was quite upset because he felt she wasted his time and money planning the birthday party.

Redditors let the woman know she wasn’t wrong.
One user wrote, “Honestly I would spoil HIS birthday with a ‘prank’ and ask why HE doesn’t find THAT funny.”
Another user wrote: “Playing a prank that upsets a victim is far more shameful than immaturity. It’s about power and control and wanting to see someone uncomfortable or scared. ‘Funny’ has nothing to do with it.”
Also, many people thought that their relationship was not healthy and that the woman should not be with him.
“He’s constantly humiliating you and then trying to get you to believe that you’re wrong because you’re feeling humiliated. That’s not how a healthy relationship works. He doesn’t care about you,” one person commented.
