Aspiring Atlanta musician, unsolved friend’s murders two years later
Atlanta police continue to search for the person responsible for the murder of two people when they left a rideshare in July 2020.
ATLANTA – A young father and his friend are murdered outside a house party.
Atlanta police found the two dead nearly two years ago, but the case remains unsolved.
The 18-year-old’s grandmother spoke to FOX 5 about why she thinks he was targeted.
Crystal Boyd believes the motive behind her grandson’s murder was jealousy, and she believes whoever is responsible is likely someone whom Raezion Boyd considers a friend.
“He was a signed artist. He was signed to Motown,” she explained.
She said Boyd is on the cusp of a booming music career.
“He was a rapper, a well-known rapper in the entertainment industry,” Crystal explained.
But in July 2020, its bright light was dimmed forever.
“The shots started ringing out. Raezion was hit in the head,” said Crystal.
That summer night, investigators said, Boyd and three friends went to a party here in northwest Atlanta.
As they got out of their ride, the police told us that at least two people shot at them from across the street.
Boyd and his friend Deyshun Clark were killed.
“I’m angry and I’m hurt and I don’t understand why nobody is being paid or prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for what they did to these young men,” Crystal said.
This is on Sunset Avenue near Lester Street.
The other two teenagers with Clark and Boyd suffered non-life-threatening injuries that night
Crystal believes her grandson was mugged and knew his killer.
“I think it was jealousy. I think it was hate for who he’s become,” she said.
Crystal is asking anyone who sees or hears her grandson’s story to speak up and help the Atlanta Police Department close this case.
“I never thought Brian I’d be, you know, looking in a box. I never imagined that. It’s still a shock. I haven’t fully processed it. I just can’t believe it,” she explained.
Boyd leaves behind two young children.
“We suffer. We don’t have a closure. We have no peace of mind. I beg.”
Anyone with further information regarding this double homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers immediately.
