The performing arts group in Green Bay is slated to resume in 2022

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Brown County Civic Music Association, a loyal performing arts organization in the area, mailed a booklet with a schedule to patrons in the spring of 2022.

The group plans to offer a subscription series of three concerts.

Under the heading “Cautious Optimism,” a statement in the brochure reads: “Like other moderators at these unusual times, we will continue to monitor public health developments and notify you in advance of social distancing seating, general precautions and schedule adjustments . when it is justified. “

Civic Music began as a volunteer art presenting organization 94 years ago. The focus was on bringing excellent professional artists, often from overseas, to Green Bay.

Are planned:

+ The New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players production of “The Pirates of Penzance”. The fully staged light opera by Gilbert and Sullivan is scheduled for the Weidner Center of the Performing Arts on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.

+ The Alliance Brass Quintet will perform on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cup O Joy Auditorium, 525 N. Taylor St., Green Bay. The quintet ranges from early Renaissance music to jazz. This is the first time Civic Music has booked on the O Joy Cup.

* The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra with the pianist Allesio Bax will play Johannes Brahms’ “Second Concert” on Monday, May 15, 2022 at 3 p.m. in the Weidner Center.

Additionally, the brochure lists tentative dates for acts later in 2022.

One is Maxwell Street Klezmer for the summer with a date and location to be set.

The other is the Washington Saxophone Quartet for November, also with a date and venue yet to be determined.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been more than two years since the Brown County Civic Music Association had a performance.

The organization typically presents five programs per year.
