Popular Lawrenceville music, food and party venue Spirit turns 7. Since opening in 2015, Spirit has hosted countless dance nights and concerts featuring talented local and traveling musicians, and served up loads of pizza from the in-house kitchen.
In true Spirit fashion, the space is hosting a massive party on Saturday, April 9th featuring some of Pittsburgh’s best as well as legendary Montreal indie rock acts. The Montreal performance will be the anchor of the party and will take place upstairs in Spirit Hall. They are joined by up-and-coming Pittsburgh band Mani Bahia & The Mob, pianist/vocalist Jon David Russell and experimental free-jazz quartet The Flavor Pals.
Down at the Spirit Lodge, the party will feature some of the big names in Pittsburgh nightlife. Stephania Tsong aka Formosa from queer dance party Jellyfish will be in the building, followed by HUNY, founder of the Mostbeautifullest and Cherry Bomb parties. The night will wrap up with Spirit’s resident DJ w00dy, who has been described as “experimental queer dance mayhem at its purest.”
As part of the celebrations, Spirit has also partnered with Torch & Dagger Tattoo Shop to offer free flash tattoos on a first come, first served basis. The tattoos are from Spirit’s Instagram contest, where interested entrants are encouraged to submit drawings of a Spirit Turns 7 themed tattoo. The winner of the competition will get free entry to the party.
Presale tickets for the 21+ show are available now and tickets are expected to sell out quickly. All guests must present valid, current ID and full proof of vaccinations or a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of the party.
