SISTER Wives star Kody Brown has faced backlash over his absence from his grandson Axel’s fifth birthday.
Kody’s wife Janelle shared photos of this special day on Instagram.
Janelle posted a tribute to the birthday girl with lots of photos of the smiling tot.
Axel’s gaze is away from the camera as he eats at a restaurant with his family in a moment.
However, in a second shot, the adorable boy has his eyes on the lens as his grandmother hugs him.
Janelle wrapped her arms around the little one and his younger sister Evie as she sat on the front steps of their home.
Axel took the spotlight in another solo shot, where he smiles broadly for the camera with his backpack beside him.
The slideshow also included another image of Axel and Evie playing in a meadow.
In the caption, Janelle gushed about her grandson, writing: “I can’t believe my amazing baby boy is 5 years old today! I remember your birth like it was yesterday. Happy Happy Birthday Axel! Grandma loves you so much.”
Kody, 53, was noticeably absent from Janelle’s greeting to her grandson.

Noting Kody’s absence, one fan commented, “Does your husband, his grandfather, Kody EVER visit them… does he take them on vacation, spend time with them??? Or just you?”
Another had the same thought, writing: “So cute. You look happy! But does Cody ever visit his grandkids?”
The couple’s daughter, Maddie Brown Brush, is Axel and Evie’s mother with her husband Caleb Brush.
The couple are also parents to sons Logan, Gabriel, Hunter, Garrison and daughter Savannah.
Kody has missed several features in recent months amid the drama with his wives.
Janelle decided to travel without her husband last month when she accompanied her sister on a trip to Portugal.
The 52-year-old posted a video of the landscape outside where she lives.
“LISBON, PORTUGAL! First international trip for me since 1987-1988,” she captioned the post.
“I qualified for an all-inclusive trip with Plexus in a competition last year and here we are. Stay tuned for lots of photos,” the reality star ended.
The video featured many buildings and trees as she panned the camera.
Car horns and background noise could be heard in the video.
Fans wished her the best and gave her tips on where to go in the comments.
She won Journey Through Plexus earlier this year and is finally ready to go.
Other fans wondered if she went on the trip alone or brought someone with her.
The Sister Wives star quashed all speculation about who she was traveling with when she posted a photo of her and her sister to her Instagram Story.
“My sister is my travel companion for this trip,” she captioned the photo of the two, smiling.
“Seeing the city by tuk tuk on this very rainy day,” Janelle finished the caption.
Janelle also posted photos of her “European coffee” and some of the food she had eaten.
Janelle’s journey comes after her sister-wife Christine, 50, split from Kody in November 2021.
After 25 years together, the couple announced via Instagram that they had “grown apart.”
“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” she wrote.
The two are no longer married; However, a source close to the Sister Wives star revealed they are “spiritually married.”
Kody has the same arrangement with Janelle and his other wife Meri, 51, although he is legally married to his fourth wife, Robyn, 43.
The family dynamic could unravel further as Meri recently sparked split rumors after posting cryptic quotes on her Instagram.
“It’s brave to stand alone as your soul rediscovers who it is and where it wants to be,” the quote reads.
She also posted some other quotes about taking care of yourself.
“You’re going to be ‘too much’ for some people. Too loud. Too quiet. But you will always be perfect for the people who love you.”
This came after Meri opened up about her non-intimate relationship with Kody.
“A few months ago, in a conversation with a friend, I used the word ‘estranged’ in reference to my relationship. It was the first time I’d said it out loud and it felt… honest,” Meri admitted in an Instagram post.
“I will always look for the best in people and situations and I hope they see it too. I want to protect people, their emotions and the difficult situations,” she continued.
Janelle has not mentioned whether she is splitting from her husband.
