Oscars Governors Ball 2022: A sneak peek at what the stars will be eating and drinking at the lavish after-party

LOS ANGELES — Once all the Oscars are up for grabs at this year’s Academy Awards, the focus will quickly shift to food and drink.

Most of the celebrity attendees will drop by the Governors Ball at the Dolby Theater where they will be surrounded by a plethora of luxurious meals.

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck is in the kitchen again, returning to the Oscars show after last year’s Governors Ball was canceled due to the pandemic.

“We’re really going to have a special party,” Puck promised. “I think we have 40 different dishes in total.”

Puck has been at the helm of the Oscars kitchen for 28 years. This year, he and his crew are serving up choices ranging from Miyazaki beef to Maine lobster pot pie to Cacio e Pepe macaroni.
The Academy is also partnering with New York-based Ghetto Gastro this year to further diversify the menu. The culinary collective adds fried chicken and primeval waffles, along with shrimp and caviar.

“At Ghetto Gastro we have a saying: ‘We Only Layer Flavors’ (WOLF) – so we think it right that we work with the amazing Wolfgang Puck to create an Oscars Governors Ball like never before Has. said the group’s co-founder, Jon Gray.

Thirsty visitors to the Governors Ball will not be disappointed. Fleur de Miraval champagne, made by a company owned by Brad Pitt, is offered at the bars. The sparkling wine costs around US$400 per bottle.

When party-goers are in the mood for wine, their choice comes from Oscar-winner Francis Ford Coppola. His winery custom-made a Chardonnay and a Cabernet especially for the Governors Ball.

“You can only have them here, or a few are available at the winery if you want to drink like the stars,” said Andrea Card, winemaker at Francis Ford Coppola Winery.

And if mixed drinks are preferred, Don Julio offers several drinks featuring his tequila.

“There are some winners and some people who don’t win. But there are definitely no losers,” said mixologist Andy Seymour as he made a Don Julio Margarita.
