GALVESTON, TX, October 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel, celebrated the debut of its all-new Norwegian Prima and the brand’s first-ever voyage Galveston, Texaswith an exclusive concert by the GRAMMY Award-winning artist Kelly Clarkson.
The ship also served as a special venue for this year’s Norwegian Giving Joy awards ceremony, where Cruise Line and Clarkson recognized 100 teachers with a free cruise, almost $170,000 for the top three Grand Prize winners and their schools.
Norwegian’s Giving Joy program recognizes deserving educators for their unwavering commitment to bringing joy to the classroom. To celebrate these incredible personalities and their often underestimated profession, and to launch Norwegian Prima’s first voyage TexasNorwegian Cruise Line hosted a breathtaking awards ceremony. Guests of honor included the President and CEO of NCL Harry Summers; Norwegian Bliss Godfather Elvis Duran, American radio personality and host of “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show;” and superstar and godmother of the Norwegian Encore, Kelly Clarksonwho gave a stellar performance of hits like “Miss Independent,” “Stronger,” and “Since You’ve Been Gone.”

At the conclusion of the Norwegian Giving Joy awards ceremony, Sommer introduced the top three Grand Prize winners who received the most votes and presented them with donations for their schools.
The grand prize winners are:
- Patricia Hosmer from Bayonne High School in Bayonne, New Jersey ($25,000)
- Theresa Schroeger from Falcon Cove Middle School, Fla. ($15,000)
- Anton Stirpe from New Rochelle High School in New Rochelle, New York ($10,000)
In addition to the expected donations to their schools, each of the grand prize winners received a big surprise – almost $40,000 a cash prize each thanks to Norwegian Cruise Line’s partners, who were moved and inspired to participate by the ethos of Norwegian’s annual teacher recognition program, Giving Joy.
