Jim Bohannon is stepping down from The Jim Bohannon Show

NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cumulus Media’s Westwood One (NASDAQ:CMLS). announced today that legendary broadcaster Jim Bohannon will retire as host of “The Jim Bohannon Show” on October 14, 2022 due to health reasons after overseeing the show for more than 30 years. Bohannon’s final show will include special guests and an opportunity for listeners to stop by and offer their thanks and best wishes. Rich Valdes, New York-area talk show host and Westwood One producer, will host “The Jim Bohannon Show” beginning Monday, October 17, continuing to bring listeners a unique blend of breaking news, interesting features and informative reports at one offer a wide range of topics every weekday from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. ET.

For 30 years, he has hosted “The Jim Bohannon Show” every weekday from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. ET on more than 300 radio stations nationwide. Bohannon hosted his own Saturday night phone program and served as the main back-up for Larry King on The Larry King Show. In February 1993, Bohannon took over the prestigious nightly talk show slot formerly held by King.

Bohannon joined Westwood One in 1983 and in addition to his weekday programs has hosted news programs, political conventions and election coverage.

Jim Bohannon was nominated for the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Marconi Radio Award for Network Syndicated Personality of the Year. He received a Special Recognition First Amendment Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association and was named by the editorial board of Talkers Magazine as a recipient of the publication’s prestigious 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been inducted into both the National Radio Hall of Fame and the Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
