BTS Busan concert venue has been changed due to ARMY security concerns

K-pop superstars BTS will now hold theirs “Yet To Come in Busan” concert at Asiad Main Stadium after fans raised safety concerns about the original venue, a makeshift stage on the site of a former glass factory near Ilgwang Beach in Busan.

HYBE issued a statement on BTS’ Weverse page on Friday, assuaging concerns:

After carefully examining many locations in Busan and how suitable they were for this plan, we originally decided to hold the concert in Ilgwang. Based on cooperation with organizations such as Busan City, Police, Fire Department and Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail), we carefully pushed ahead with the organization of the event so that the audience can have the best possible experience. We decided to move the concert venue from a special stage near Ilgwang Beach to Busan Asian [sic] main stadium to maximize the safety and comfort of attendees and ensure a smooth concert.”

HYBE continued: “tThe performance remains dedicated to the main purpose of the performance, which is to promote the bid for the Busan World Expo 2030.” BTS is one of the ambassadors of the Expo.

While the venue has changed, other scheduled portions of the concert, including a live stream of the show shown at the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal outdoor parking lot and a global live stream, remain the same. The concert was originally intended to have 100,000 visitors – 50,000 seated and 50,000 standing – although Asiad Main Stadium can only seat 60,000 people.

Many fans were upset about the original venue as there would have been only one entrance gate accessible from the nearest subway line to the venue. On the day of the concert, only public transport is allowed on the premises.

The former factory site also did not have sufficient facilities such as restaurants or toilets for such a large event. There was also a food ban at the venue, meaning some people were unable to eat from the time they entered the premises until the end of the show, which is expected to last 12 hours.
