2022 Pan American Veteran and Senior Chess Championship announced

The 2022 Pan American Veteran and Senior Chess Championship will be held from June 21-26, 2022 at the Praia Brava Hotel in Florianópolis, Brazil. The event, organized by the Confederation of Chess for America (CCA) and the Brazilian Chess Federation (CBX), is open to all players of the American Continental Chess Federation.

OFFICIAL PLAYER

US Chess nominates one official player to be entitled to late check-out accommodation (double sharing) and full board at Promoter’s expense from June 21-26. To qualify as an Official USA Player, you must register for the event no later than May 8, 2022 (instructions below).

The top US player according to the May 2022 FIDE Standard Rating List who registers by May 8, 2022 will be elected the Official USA Player.

All registrations for the tournament must be submitted by the national federations, individual registrations directly with the organizers are not possible. The registration fee for all players is $70.00 and payment must be made using the US Chess registration form. Please note there is also a non-refundable $10 administration fee that will be added to all registrations.

The registration deadline for US chess for US players is June 8, 2022 (Note that the deadline for registering as an official player is May 8, 2022), which allows US Chess to collect all the information needed to participate by the organizer’s deadline.

Refund Policy: A full refund of the entry fee, less the administration fee, will be given if requested by June 8, 2022. No refunds will be given after this date unless the tournament is canceled by the organizers.

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel bookings and payments must be made through US Chess. Overnight stays are available from the organizer at the following prices:

  • Single room (1 person):
    • June 20-27 (7 nights) – $300
    • June 20-26 (6 nights) – $260
    • June 21-26 (5 nights) – $220
  • Double room (2 people):
    • June 20-27 (7 nights) – $190/person
    • June 20-26 (6 nights) – $165/person
    • June 21-26 (5 nights) – $135/person
  • Triple room (3 people):
    • June 20-27 (7 nights) – $150/person
    • 20-26 June (6 nights) – $130/person
    • June 21-26 (5 nights) – $110/person

Once registration is complete, an invoice will be sent with the total amount to be paid and the method of payment. Payment and any additional documentation (identification documents) requested by the organizer must be received by US Chess no later than June 8, 2022.

While US Chess is required to collect and transmit entries to the organizer on behalf of our federation, we cannot accept responsibility for the health and well-being of any player who chooses to travel to this event. Therefore, all players must sign a waiver of participation before their participation in the tournament is confirmed. please check the Travel Advisory from the US Department of State for the latest information on travel to Brazil.
